본 교과목은 기술발전의 경제적 역할과 영향을 중심으로 “기술혁명”과 “경제시스템”의 상호작용의 원리를 다루고자 한다. 첫째, 기술혁명의 의미, 기술 발전의 유형, 과정 및 제 단계, 기술 발전의 경제적 영향, 기술과 경제의 상호 관련성 등에 관한 기본 이론과 지식을 다룰 것이다. 둘째, IT, BT, NT, ET 등을 중심으로 하는 기술별 혁신의 현재와 미래를 논의하고자 한다. 셋째, 경제 발전에 있어서 기술의 역할에 대한 다양한 입장과 이론을 정리하고 기술 혁명이 경제 시스템 및 정책 환경에 미치는 영향과 파급효과가 무엇인지를 살펴보고자 한다. 또한 경제 구조 및 제도가 기술 혁신에 미치는 영향을 분석하고 이를 통해 기술의 지속적인 발전과 혁신을 추동하는 경제 제도 및 구조가 무엇인지를 찾아보고자 한다. 마지막으로 기술의 사회적 파급, 확산, 이전의 과정을 설명하고 기술혁신이 기업 내에서 어떠한 역할을 하고 있는 지를 분석하며, 그리고 혁신적 기술을 사회적으로 보호하는 각종 제도 및 장치들을 논의할 것이다.

English Overview
This course deals with the role of technology development in modern economy and its effect. Especially it mainly focuses on the interaction between ‘technology revolution’ and ‘economic development.’ First, the basic theory and knowledge of technological advancement will be introduced. It will include the definition of technology revolution, various types of technological development, processes and stages of technological innovation, and the economic effect from technological change. Second, we will discuss the current status of IT, BT, NT, ET revolutions and their spill over effect on the economy in historical context. Third, we will discuss the role of technology in the economic growth and social change. The course is designed to analyze the wide spectrum of perspectives and theories on the role of technology, the effects of technology revolution on scio-economic system and public policy environment. On the other hand, by analyzing the influence of economic system upon technological innovation, we will try to find what the innovative economic system is. Finally, we will explore the technology transfer and diffusion procedures in our society and firms and discuss various economic institutions, organizations and systems to facilitate technology diffusion in the society, and lastly, protect the technological innovations.
